Dimensional Works
1977-PRESENT
Paper pulp is processed in many ways to create paper that can be folded, cut, and shrunk. These explorations have led to many three-dimensional works. For example, the undulating form of "Pirates "is an experiment using a highly beaten abaca fiber that shrinks, contrasted with stripes of a mixed cotton fiber that does not shrink. The origami-like works "Tigers on Mars" and "Rabbit in the Moon" use a slightly beaten grey abaca pulp that gives fold strength to the portion of the sculpture that is subject to folding and is laminated behind the stiff cast and poured cotton and pigmented abaca surface layers.
